Winemaker Jordan Salcito is a firm believer that one should trust their own palate to determine if they think something is delicious. Jordan, who was once a sommelier at Eleven Madison Park and now Beverage Director at Momofuku, started looking for wines to recommend to friends that embodied her values and weren’t prohibitively expensive or impossible to find. This made her start taking a critical look at wines available in the market. The realization that there were no wines that met all the criteria she and her friends were looking for in a bottle is what inspired the creation of Bellus.
Bellus is a socially and environmentally conscious wine company that makes organically-grown, terroir-driven wines in collaboration with partner wineries around the globe. The grapes used to produce all Bellus wines are grown without any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. Jordan firmly believes that one should trust their own palate to determine if they think something is delicious.
Aside from her passion for wine, Jordan supports organizations such as Nomagaia (an NGO that is pushing multinational corporations to respect human rights), as well as the Tory Burch Foundation (benefiting woman entrepreneurs) by donating a percentage of proceeds to their cause.
