Balnaves wines are 100% Coonawarra, which is situated in the South East of South Australia. Wines are produced exclusively from fruit grown in this cool climate region by the Balnaves Family. Since the planting of the first five hectares of vines in 1976, the vineyard has grown steadily and now covers a total of 58 hectares of clay-based Terra Rossa soil, which overlays calcareous limestone.
The Balnaves family aims to produce consistently high quality wines from fruit that reflects the unique flavors and character of Coonawara. Members of the family are still directly involved in many facets of the winery’s day-to-day operation.
